The transience of life

The Transience of Life has been the central thread in my work throughout more than forty years as a full‑time professional painter. Whether I paint a figure, a portrait, or a still life, I am drawn to the fragile, fleeting moments that reveal something essential about being human.

I work slowly and deliberately, building layers of oil paint to create depth, atmosphere, and a sense of lived experience. Light is my primary tool — it shapes the form, defines the mood, and transforms ordinary subjects into quiet meditations on time, presence, and impermanence.

In my figurative and portrait work, I explore subtle gestures, expressions, and the psychological space between viewer and sitter. In my still lifes, I focus on balance, tension, and the symbolic weight of everyday objects. Across all subjects, my intention is to create paintings that invite the viewer to pause, reflect, and sense the delicate beauty of life as it passes.
